Did you ever get the slipper at home?

When i was growing up in 70/80`s. the comics I used to read had fathers punishing their sons and daughers almost every week (eg. Roger the dodger ,dennis the menace Minnie the minx), usually with a slipper. I know it was used in schools, but did anyone get it at home?
