If a Red Platy and a Sarpae Tetra mate, can the Platy get pregnant?

Cause I'm keeping a Sarpae Tetra and a Red Platy together. The Sarpae is a male, and the Platy is female. The Platy was pregnant when I bought her and gave birth to 9 fry this morning, but only 7 of them made it. Is it possible for the Sarpae and Platy to mate and get pregnant? Cause I really don't need more...
